Elon Musk issued a stark warning this week: if Democrats sweep the House, Senate, and presidency in 2028, they will rig the system so thoroughly that no opposition party will ever win again — and every American who values liberty should treat that as the only issue that matters right now.
The stakes are constitutional. Musk argued on X that a Democratic trifecta would move immediately on three fronts: grant statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico to lock in a Senate majority; open the borders and legalize every illegal alien in the country to cement a permanent electoral majority; and expand the Supreme Court to seize an immediate majority on the bench. The result, Musk wrote, would be "America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word."
"My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will: 1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate," Musk posted. He listed open borders and mass legalization as his second concern and court packing as his third.
The remedy, Musk argued, is simple: "All that is needed to ensure this doesn't happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one."
Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina backed Musk's assessment, writing on X: "This is exactly what they will do. They've said as much for years. Statehood for DC & Puerto Rico. Blanket amnesty. Court packing. Permanent one-party rule." Donald Trump Jr. echoed the warning: "Pay attention folks."
Musk is not just talking. According to Fox News, a representative for his America PAC confirmed that the billionaire has poured $276 million into Republican super PACs and organizations over the past three months alone. That includes $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, aligned with Majority Leader John Thune, and $10 million to a PAC backing Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton. Breitbart's coverage of Musk's warning made no mention of the spending figures.
Hillary Clinton took aim at Musk's political spending, accusing him of trying to buy the midterms for Republicans. Fox News noted her criticism; Breitbart did not report it.
The Senate majority remains a coin flip, with six states set to decide control. Fox News Power Rankings put the Republican ceiling at 52 seats and the Democratic ceiling at 54.
What Musk is naming is the structural playbook: new states mean new senators, amnesty means new voters, a packed court means no check on either. The question is whether enough voters see the trajectory before 2028 — or whether the system gets locked shut after.
