Two women slashed a 24-year-old subway rider across the face, head, and hands in the Bronx after a blind man's cane accidentally bumped her — then walked out of the station while the city's leadership looks the other way.
This is daily life in the progressive utopia of Democrat-governed New York: an accidental brush with a blind man's cane escalates to facial mutilation because the social contract has collapsed and criminals know there will be no consequences.
According to law enforcement, the attack happened Nov. 6 around 5:35 p.m. on the southbound 4 train platform at the 167th Street subway station. Two women were walking with a blind man across the mezzanine when he bumped the 24-year-old victim with his cane. She responded with "What the F**k" — and the blind man's companions attacked her with a sharp object, slashing her face, head, and hands, AM New York reported.
EMS rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. The suspects fled the station. One wore a green jacket and blue pants; the other wore a striped sweater, light-colored pants, and headphones. Police are asking the public to identify them.
The same weekend brought another snapshot of civic collapse. In Detroit, someone opened fire on another vehicle after a crash on the Southfield Freeway around 9 p.m. Nov. 7. Michigan State Police said someone inside the suspect vehicle fired two shots at the other car before fleeing at the McNichols Road exit, according to M Live Michigan. Police would not say whether anyone was injured.
Two cities, two nights, the same story: minor encounters that once ended with a curse word or an insurance exchange now end in blood. The people who govern these places have decided that prosecuting crime is optional.
In New York, the subway system has become a running hazard under Democratic governance. Bail reform, decriminalization, and a political class more concerned with social justice than public order have turned the trains into a place where a blind man's companions can slash a woman's face over a cane bump and simply walk away.
The system isn't broken. It's working as designed.
The question isn't why this happened. It's why anyone expects anything different from the people running these cities — and how long ordinary Americans will keep riding trains built for savagery.
