Three men were gunned down in Northwest D.C. just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday — and the same politicians who gutted policing will sleep fine tonight behind their armed security details.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the 700 block of 6th Street NW to find two men conscious and breathing with gunshot wounds. One suffered non-life-threatening injuries; the other took serious hits. A third victim walked into a local hospital on his own, connected to the same shooting. Police are hunting a suspect described as wearing all black with black dreadlocks.

Meanwhile, in Detroit, a man believed to be in his 30s was found shot inside a crashed vehicle on Motor Drive near 8 Mile Road around 4:23 a.m. the same morning, according to CBS News. He didn't make it — pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two cities. Four victims. One dead. And the people who run this country will express sorrow, hold no votes, and go back to their guarded offices and gated neighborhoods.

This is the two-tier safety system in action. The ruling class in Washington — the ones who defund police, decriminalize offenses, and champion progressive prosecutors — never has to live with the consequences. Congress members walk the Capitol behind metal detectors and armed officers. Their neighborhoods are patrolled. Their families are protected. Yours get the 700 block of 6th Street at 1:27 in the morning.

WJLA reported the D.C. investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. In Detroit, police ask tipsters to call 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

No suspect in custody in either city. No answers for the families. And no accountability for the policymakers who turned these streets into shooting galleries.

The question isn't when the next shooting happens — it's whether the people who govern us will ever have to live in the America they built for everyone else.
