An illegal alien speeding drunk and high killed a Connecticut police officer and his girlfriend on July 13, and the establishment press would rather talk about anything else.
Bridgeport police officer Cooper Whiteside, 38, and his girlfriend Brittany Islami, a 34-year-old mother of three, were riding his Harley Davidson when 27-year-old Melissa Ramirez — in the country illegally from Mexico — slammed into them in a 45 mph zone. Both were thrown from the motorcycle and killed. Whiteside was found with his femur protruding through the skin in a large pool of blood, according to the police report. Islami suffered significant head injuries.
According to the Gateway Pundit, citing the New York Post, police found beer spilled throughout Ramirez's vehicle and a THC vape cartridge. Her blood alcohol content measured 0.14 — nearly twice the legal limit — and she tested positive for cannabis. Responding officer Aaron Wolen noted her eyes were watery and bloodshot with a strong odor of alcohol on her person.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to the Post that Ramirez is a criminal illegal alien, and ICE lodged a detainer against her on July 26.
The story gets worse. Ramirez is reportedly registered to vote in Connecticut and has voted repeatedly — in a state where Democrat officials have championed policies inviting exactly this kind of lawlessness. Then a Democrat-appointed judge lowered her bond from $500,000 to $300,000, citing her "deep ties to the community." An illegal alien who killed two Americans has community ties worth half a million dollars less than the prosecutor sought.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Inquirer — representing the establishment press playbook — dedicated its crime coverage this week to a Philadelphia DoorDash driver killed by a 15-year-old during a robbery. A tragedy, to be sure, but one that required no reckoning with open borders or the political class that enables them. The Inquirer had nothing to say about a cop mowed down by an illegal alien with drugs in her system. That story doesn't fit the narrative.
Ramirez has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and DUI. She appeared in court Monday and is scheduled for a second appearance August 31. A mother of three is burying her daughter. A police force is burying one of their own. And the people who opened the door to this will face no consequences at all — unless Americans start demanding them.
The question isn't whether the border crisis kills Americans. It's how many more have to die before Washington is forced to answer for it.
