The White House just confirmed decades of UFO encounters off Catalina Island that the government spent generations calling delusions — and the officials who buried the truth face exactly zero consequences.

For over 70 years, Americans who reported unexplained objects in the sky were mocked, marginalized, or monitored by their own intelligence agencies. Friday's document dump from the Trump administration proves the sightings were real and the records were deliberately concealed. The story isn't little green men. It's that the permanent bureaucracy lied to the public for decades and nobody is held to account.

The Air Force intelligence report included in the release details a 1952 encounter involving three Boy Scouts who observed a silver object moving "faster than a conventional jet" while hiking near Camp Fox on Catalina Island at noon on Aug. 25. The scouts couldn't estimate altitude, speed, or distance. Weather was clear. A sketch of the object, drawn on the back of the original report, remains missing despite searches through government archives — convenient for those who spent decades discrediting witnesses.

A hand-written letter dated May 1, 1947 from a man named Percy E. Mackey describes another sighting: "About 8 o'clock of the night of April 28th, my wife and a school teacher saw six objects in the sky, not in a group, but singly. A few minutes later after going to my daughter's home, on the next street and corresponding block, she and my daughter and my grandson saw four more. All traveling in the same direction." The report was dismissed with "insufficient data for evaluation" — the bureaucratic brush-off applied to countless citizen reports.

Three Army Air Force veterans spotted six "flying discs" traveling in formation over Avalon on July 8, 1947, according to a historical account published by The Catalina Islander. One witness, Alvio Russo, estimated their speed at 850 mph. A former aerial photographer named Bob Jung claimed to have photographed one of the objects. The Los Angeles Examiner published the image, which remains in Getty's archives — though it appears to show a nighttime sky despite the sighting occurring during the day. That discrepancy remains unexplained, another loose end the government never bothered to resolve.

The Catalina records are part of the Trump administration's Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters. Friday's disclosure marks the seventh tranche of records released, with more expected.

The New York Post covered the document release straight. The Daily Beast ignored it entirely, chasing a separate story about administration infighting — a choice that tells you everything about which outlets care about government accountability and which care about palace intrigue.

Here is the open question: files are coming out now, but where is the accountability for the officials who classified them in the first place, the agency heads who smeared citizens as unhinged, and the intelligence apparatus that made reporting the truth a career-ending act? Documents without consequences are just theater.
