Border czar Tom Homan dismantled the racial profiling smear that Democrats deploy to block immigration enforcement, making clear that ICE targets illegal aliens based on immigration status — and warning that sanctuary policies are what actually put Americans at risk.
The stakes are straightforward: if the racial profiling narrative sticks, enforcement grinds to a halt and millions of illegal aliens stay put. That's the goal for Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon, who campaigned on abolishing ICE and ending detention centers before she ever leveled the profiling charge.
Nixon, who just won Florida's Democratic primary, claimed on the "QNA: Questions Need Answers" podcast that Republicans are "literally trying to kill us" and described ICE as "a weaponized paramilitary force that is designed to terrorize us," accusing agents of state-sanctioned violence in Black communities.
Homan didn't blink. "We don't arrest people based on the color of your skin. I'm actually an equal opportunity deporter. I deported people to 180 countries last year," he said on "Saturday in America." "I don't care if you're from Asia, you're from Europe or you're from other countries. If you're in the country illegally, you will be deported, regardless of the color of your skin."
He called Nixon's accusations what they are: "It's just lie, after lie, after lie, to try to vilify the men and women of ICE."
Homan reinforced that agents operate on legal standards — reasonable suspicion to question, probable cause to arrest. "That's what the law says. And that's what we do," he said.
The Department of Homeland Security backed Homan in blunt terms, telling Fox News Digital that Nixon's comments are "disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE" and that immigration status, not race or ethnicity, determines who is targeted for enforcement.
Nixon's campaign website spells out the real agenda: ICE "cannot be trusted with the power it has" and its "terror tactics" must be dismantled. Mass deportation and mass incarceration are "moral failures," she argues. This isn't about profiling — it's about abolishing enforcement entirely.
Homan also made the connection the establishment press won't: sanctuary city policies force ICE to make arrests in communities instead of taking custody of illegal aliens already jailed, increasing the danger for everyone. He pointed to the July fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was shot as agents tried to arrest him in Houston.
"What sanctuary cities do is not only… give sanctuaries to criminals, it makes the community less safe because they're releasing public safety threats back into the public," Homan said. "It puts our officers at greater risk. It puts the alien at greater risk because anything can happen during a street arrest."
Both outlets covered the exchange similarly, though Fox News identified Nixon as a "bullhorn-wielding socialist" who upset the establishment favorite in her primary — context that matters. The New York Post played it straighter but left out that framing entirely.
The pattern is clear: cry racial profiling to paralyze enforcement, push sanctuary policies that make enforcement more dangerous, then point to the resulting chaos as proof the system is broken. Nixon's campaign isn't an outlier — it's the Democratic playbook. The question is whether Republican leadership will call it what it is or keep pretending the other side just wants "comprehensive reform."
