Kamala Harris was asked to name America's most effective presidents and couldn't bring herself to mention the one she served beside for four years — a telling snub that lays bare how badly the Democratic establishment wants voters to forget the Biden-Harris record.
At the National Urban League Conference in Nashville on Friday, NUL President Marc Morial pressed Harris to rank her top three. "Oh Marc, don't make me do that," Harris replied, according to the New York Post, before naming Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson. She then added Barack Obama, drawing applause, and praised his push for the Affordable Care Act.
Conspicuously absent: Joe Biden, the man who made her his running mate, handed her the 2024 nomination after abandoning his own reelection bid 107 days out, and later claimed he had delegated "everything" to her as vice president.
Both the Daily Caller and Breitbart covered the omission. Breitbart framed it as a direct snub of the man who said on The View in September 2024 that Harris bore responsibility for the administration's failures on inflation, the border, and the Afghanistan withdrawal. The Caller noted the two have feuded openly since her loss, with Harris blaming Biden's White House communications team in her book "107 Days" for leaving her to absorb fallout over the border crisis.
The same Nashville appearance gave a preview of what a 2028 Harris platform might look like — and it's a laundry list of structural overhauls she wouldn't champion during her 2024 run. Harris backed scrapping the Electoral College, expanding the Supreme Court to 13 seats, and granting statehood to Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., according to Fox News. She told attendees she hasn't decided on another White House bid but is "fully, sincerely, focused on these midterms."
The Post noted the Biden omission was "a glaring omission after the two had a not-so-private falling out." Harris, for her part, used the same appearance to lecture on integrity: "There is the quality that is everything that flows from the concept of integrity, which includes speaking the truth and being honest with the people."
Harris still leads the Democratic 2028 field, topping Gavin Newsom by 11 points and Pete Buttigieg by 17 in the RealClearPolitics average, the Washington Examiner reported. She's also been courting the progressive wing through recent outreach to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The calculation is transparent: distance yourself from a presidency you own, rebrand as a reformer, and hope voters have short memories. Whether Americans buy it is an open question.
