A 19-year-old University of Georgia student drove 110 miles, slept in his car overnight, put on a high school cross-country uniform, and ambushed a teenage runner with rocks during a meet — and nobody at the school stopped him from walking onto the course.

Aiden Dombrowski infiltrated the Coweta Cup Cross Country Championship at Newnan High School on Saturday morning, trekking through the woods until his target ran past, according to Newnan Police. Witnesses told police Dombrowski was holding rocks when he pushed the Newnan High runner and struck him with his fists. The victim fought back, driving his attacker off the course and into the woods.

This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment lapse. Dombrowski drove from Athens to Newnan Friday night and slept in his car before the race, the New York Post reported. He obtained an East Coweta High School uniform despite never attending the school — police say they still don't know how he got it. After the attack, he changed into another school's tracksuit, stashed the evidence in his vehicle, and surrendered to officers searching for him.
