Meritocracy beats tokenism every time but if you insist on offering the paying public a substandard product then don't be surprised to learn that the hard way.

When do the 50% of the public without musical talent get 50% of the lineup spots?

We need representation too...

lets have 50% shit in for the sake of diversity

Come on, don't stop there, bigots. Surely we want the full range of intersectional categories represented. It's only fair and would certainly be more entertaining once the onstage infighting started.

This is not equality, its equitiy... Forcing a 50/50 split does not garuntee those there are there by merit. Some may have been included just to get the 50/50 outcome, i.e. diverity hires... Only politically correct intersectional zelots think this is good idea.

I don't care what a person's skin colour is or what is between their legs, if you have the talent you will make it, simple as. Imagine being a guy or gal who wanted to do this event but was turned away because they have enough of a quota for that sex... this practice leads to actual discrimination based on race or sex. Morons...

Just because you share your dogshit sandwich doesn't make you a good person.

'Marta admits that achieving an equal gender split at a festival as musically diverse as Primavera is easier than if the festival only played metal music, for example. '

Pardon? Proof if any were needed that people don't pay attention to metal.

Yet more virtue signalling by establishing a 50/50 gender split for the sake of diversity rather than actual talent.

Looks to me that the article written by 2 BBC reporters only see female acts. You can always get 50:50 shit.

Most bands are composed mostly of dudes; there are fewer girls in bands. This means they will now be forced to elevate shittier female bands to have enough bands to fill the slots. This means these festivals are gonna showcase better male bands and shittier female bands. People are gonna notice this and realize that these over-promoted female bands suck, the festival will suck, and the participation of talented, non-batshit, non-feminist women in music will drop (because nobody wants to be associated with shit that sucks). The net result of this will be the opposite of what they want. Fortunately, modern music has already been so thoroughly destroyed and propagandized, no ACTUAL music fans will notice.
