France is burning under the weight of open-borders socialism, and Sen. Eric Schmitt says the same people who brought you defund-the-police want to bring it stateside.
Riots, fires, and looting have swept French cities since late September, with protests over rising living costs and strained public services turning violent and curfews imposed across Paris and beyond. The chaos is exactly what "DSA Democrats" want for America, the Missouri Republican told Fox News Digital. "I think the Democrat Party at this point is sort of post-American and anti-Western civilization," Schmitt said.
The establishment press would rather cover a diplomatic Twitter spat than the policies that lit the match. ICE posted a photo of French protesters with the caption "France has fallen," adding: "Every day we are fighting to prevent American streets from looking like this." France's government-run "French Response" account — a Ministry of Foreign Affairs operation set up last September to counter what it calls disinformation through memes and satire — fired back with a graphic comparing gun crime statistics, captioned: "Every day we are fighting to prevent French stats from looking like this." Newsweek framed the exchange as the story. The actual unrest got a sentence.
President Trump has blamed the French unrest on migrants. The protests themselves erupted September 28 over school conditions and the cost of living — the predictable pressure points when a welfare state meets open borders and working people compete for strained public services.
Schmitt, for his part, is pointing to what cooperation with the Trump administration has delivered back home. In Missouri, Boeing won contracts for the Air Force's F-47 and the Navy's next-generation F/A-XX fighter — programs Schmitt says will mean 7,000 direct jobs plus supplier ripple effects, with St. Louis positioned as "the defense tech capital of the United States of America." On public safety, he pointed to Operation Show Me Justice, an ATF-led enforcement surge in St. Louis that the Justice Department says produced 435 arrests, 166 firearms seized, 81 kilograms of drugs confiscated, and more than $1.25 million linked to illegal gun and drug transactions.
Schmitt described grandparents cleaning up broken glass and parents burying children. "We don't need to accept this," he said. "We just don't need to accept the idea that violent crime needs to be in the headlines every single day."
He warned that Democratic control of the House would jeopardize ICE funding and revive the government weaponization seen under Biden. The New York Post reported Schmitt's warning in full; Newsweek buried it beneath a fact-check of an ICE tweet.
The question isn't whether France's government can win a meme war. It's whether Americans will be allowed to see the connection between the policies burning Paris and the ones being pushed at home — before the same fires reach here.
