Tech multimillionaire Bryan Johnson has burned roughly $2 million a year trying to defeat death itself — but for 11 years, his own stomach was quietly eating itself, and his 30-person medical team never noticed.

Johnson, 48, disclosed in late June that he has autoimmune gastritis, a chronic condition with no approved cure in which the immune system attacks the stomach's acid-producing parietal cells. The diagnosis came in May. The damage had been mounting for at least a decade. The only early signal was persistently low ferritin — flagged in his bloodwork year after year, never fully explained.
