A 23-year-old Newport News man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after his reckless handling of a firearm killed a 22-year-old woman in Norfolk — and the usual suspects will use this tragedy to demand collective punishment for every law-abiding gun owner in America.

Matthew B. Croslin was taken into custody and charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless handling of a firearm after Semaj R. Coleman, 22, of Molluso, Virginia, died from a gunshot wound at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, according to Norfolk police. Officers were notified around 11:45 p.m. Friday that a woman had arrived at the hospital with a life-threatening injury. The preliminary investigation determined the shooting was accidental and occurred in a parking lot in the 5700 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard. Croslin is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond.
