A 33-year-old man was found dead with suspicious injuries on a Long Beach street Wednesday morning, and police have released zero information about who might have killed him — leaving another working-class neighborhood to wonder who's next.

Long Beach officers responded to the 6500 block of Muriel Avenue at 8:27 a.m. following a report of a deceased person, according to the Long Beach Police Department. When they arrived, they found the man — identified by Patch as Shannon — dead at the scene with what police called "suspicious injuries" and signs of foul play. That's where the information ends. LBPD refused to provide additional details Friday about Shannon's injuries, where exactly he was found, or whether detectives believe he was killed at that location, referring Patch back to its Thursday news release. No suspect information. No motive. Just a dead man and a wall of silence from the department tasked with protecting the public.

In Reading, Pennsylvania, a 24-year-old man named James A. Thomas Jr. was finally captured Tuesday after remaining at large for nearly a month following a brazen Aug. 4 shooting, according to the Reading Eagle. Thomas allegedly fired multiple shots into the back of a moving SUV on a northeast Reading street, striking a 24-year-old driver in the head and a 22-year-old passenger in the arm. The driver was critically wounded. Security camera footage shows Thomas holding a handgun on a porch, stepping off, and firing multiple rounds at the passing SUV before fleeing in a black sedan registered to a relative, the Eagle reported. Police recovered three .45-caliber shell casings. Thomas had an arrest warrant issued the day after the shooting but evaded capture until the Berks County Emergency Response Team tracked him down. He's now jailed on $2 million bail facing attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault charges.

In Greensboro, North Carolina, another arrest was made in a Randleman Road shooting — another violent incident in another city where progressive policies have eroded the consequences that once deterred shooters from pulling the trigger.

The pattern is unmistakable. Working Americans are shot, killed, and left on the street while the system that should protect them either can't find the suspects or won't tell the public what it knows. In Long Beach, a man is dead and the police department's only contribution is a phone number for tips. In Reading, a shooter ran free for a month. The people who can afford private security and gated communities don't live on Muriel Avenue or Marion Street. The people who do are left to be the evidence of what happens when the political class abandons law enforcement to chase progressive approval.
