An unlicensed illegal alien killed a 9-month-old American boy in a New Jersey parking lot, and one day later an illegal alien drunk driver killed a mother and her adult daughter on a Maryland highway — two families destroyed because the federal government let both killers in and state governments refused to hand them over.

The dead boy's name was Yitzchok Rosenberg. He was nine months old. On August 28, María Cobon-Guzmán, a 20-year-old Guatemalan national with no driver's license, slammed a Ford Fusion into Golda Chana as she pushed Yitzchok in a stroller outside a kosher grocery store in Jackson Township, New Jersey. Chana and her 5-year-old daughter were critically injured. Yitzchok died at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Cobon-Guzmán was charged with manslaughter. The car's owner, Ariadna Lazaro-Flores, 22, a Mexican national, was charged with knowingly creating a substantial risk of death by letting an unlicensed driver behind the wheel. Both women are illegal aliens. Both have ICE detainers filed against them. Both were denied bail by Judge Kimarie Rahill.

Here is what the system knew, and what it did anyway. A Department of Homeland Security official told Fox News Digital that Cobon-Guzmán crossed the border illegally in October 2023 during the Biden administration and was released into the interior — unvetted. An immigration judge finally ordered her removal on July 31. She was still in the country on August 28. Lazaro-Flores entered illegally five separate times in October 2023 and was removed each time — only to obtain a New Jersey driver's license anyway. "That is shocking," said Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), who called for the rollback of New Jersey's sanctuary status.

It gets worse. New Jersey's Immigrant Trust Directive, issued by former Governor Phil Murphy in 2018, bars local police from asking about immigration status, notifying ICE when someone is released from custody, or sharing non-public information for civil immigration enforcement. Governor Mikie Sherrill codified that directive into state law in March and signed an executive order in February blocking ICE from using nonpublic areas of state property without a judicial warrant.

Jackson Township Mayor Jennifer Kuhn told Fox News Digital the crash demands a reversal. "If our police pull somebody over and they're undocumented... they can't call the federal agencies, they can't call ICE. That needs to change," Kuhn said. "Condolences at this point are not enough."

The next day, 200 miles south, another illegal alien killed another American family. On August 29, Jose Antonio Caballero-Nolasco drove a Ford Mustang the wrong way down Interstate 270 in Maryland, striking a vehicle carrying 46-year-old Musammat Shamima Begum and 23-year-old Areebah Jahin. Both women died. Caballero-Nolasco was suspected of drunk driving. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed the driver is an illegal alien. "This tragedy was completely avoidable," Mullin said. "Musammat Shamima Begum and Areebah Jahin should still be alive." ICE lodged a detainer on September 1.

Fox News framed the story around the mayor's demand for policy change. The New York Post led with the immigration status and the charges. The Baltimore outlet covered the Maryland crash as a standalone, without connecting it to the pattern. None of the three outlets stated the plain implication: a woman ordered deported July 31 was still driving without a license August 28 in a state that hands licenses to illegal aliens and bars police from calling ICE.

Cobon-Guzmán had a deportation order on paper. She had no license. She had no legal right to be in the country, let alone behind the wheel of a car. What exactly was the enforcement mechanism between July 31 and August 28? That question has no answer — because there was none.
