A growing chorus of voices on the right claims that the lockdown’s threat to the economy is too high a price to pay, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

According to Public Health England figures, the number of excess winter deaths this year is still a tenth of the 50,000 people who died during the winter of 2017-2018. How many people will die because of the destruction of businesses, the loss of jobs and shrinking the economy by 15%? The impact of the 2008 financial crisis is still being felt twelve years on and the measures implemented to deal with the coronavirus have had a bigger impact.

The long read: Mass internment camps did not begin or end with the Nazis – today they are everywhere from China to Europe to the US. How can we stop their spread?

It's massively dishonest to compare United States immigration detention centres with camps in China, Burma, Syria and other totalitarian regimes. The US holds illegal immigrants in clean, safe conditions and looks after their well being. People in the US are not tortured for their beliefs or their speech. Detainees can leave any time they like as long as they leave the country.

The BBC has been criticised for sharing a “racist” and “unhinged” anti-immigration rant from a Question Time audience member on its social media pages. A woman asked the show’s panel on Thursday at what point the UK “should completely close the borders” to immigrants and complained about the number of people “flooding in” to the country and using public services.

So there you go - if you have doubts about the benefits of mass immigration you are vile and unhinged, despite a considerable body of research concluding that the economic cost a net deficit, the impact on infrastructure of having millions of people coming into the country and the damage to social cohesion it causes.

Why did our national broadcaster tweet the vile views of a Question Time audience member without challenge?

Jones and Sakar dishonestly misrepresent research in support of their claim that immigration is a net benefit to the UK. The truth is very different. The Akkad Daily channel on YouTube has done a competent job of debunking their claims.

Words from powerful white men such as Joaquin Phoenix and the archbishop of Canterbury are welcome, but action must follow, says Myriam François of the Centre of Islamic Studies, Soas

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” ― Booker T. Washington

‘The time is right to move the world’s best motor show to the nation’s most popular channel’

This is truly desperate old tosh. If you can get BBC1 you can get BBC2. If you want to watch Top Gear you will watch Top Gear. The programme isn't switching to BBC1, it is being switched by the corporation that owns both channels in a wretched attempt to shore up failing ratings as viewers sick of having the BBC's agenda forced down their throats turn off in droves.

The liberal consensus of the 90s is crumbling, and a group that never went along with it is now finding its voice again, says journalist Ellie Mae O’Hagan

O'Hagan makes no attempt to address the issues involved, preferring to attack everyone who doesn't totally agree with the cultural Marxist agenda. And that is why the left is going nowhere. They are already having to turn on each other because there aren't enough people in the world for them to hate.

Misguided assumptions about race are going mainstream, but hard facts can help you combat entrenched attitudes

A very dishonest analysis that cherry picks data and uses logical fallacies without providing any actual evidence. If you want a bigger data set explain why 75% of NBA and 70% of NFL players are black.

‘Becky has both the brains and the brilliance to take on Boris Johnson’, Len McCluskey said

Unite leader Len McCluskey put his full backing behind Worzel Corbyn as a winner. Now he's behind Wrong Daily. If the man was a football manager he would have been sacked by now, instead the useless sack continues to push his Marxism. Do a majority of Unite members honestly believe that the vacuous and inexperienced Rebecca as Labour leader will do anything other than guarantee an even bigger drubbing for the party come the next election?
