I tend to refrain from having any expectations at all about anything these days, and while it's sad to not ever really be excited about anything, I find that it does tend to stave off a great deal of disappointment.
Even the most bleak dystopian fiction could not have predicted that the most feared authoritarian overlords would carry out their purges while using names like "nandoodles".
But Davina McCall tweeted that it was probably racism, so I don't know what to believe.
Ron Gilbert promoted Danskin's "Why Are You So Angry Jack?" anti-gamer garbage, destroying whatever fond memories I had left about Monkey Island, after Tim Schafer had previously successfully ruined the rest of them.
I think that Sargon is correct when he says that much of this kind of animosity towards him stems from people trying to cling on to the label of 'Left', and refusing to admit that as things currently stand, the lunatics have either claimed all of the institutions of the mainstream Left, or at least made all the non-crazy people on that side too afraid to speak against them.
I don't identify as conservative, because I don't think that terms fits me either - it's not like I've really changed my beliefs fundamentally - but I gave up defining myself using the term 'Left' in any sense some time ago. I might reconsider it if they ever decide to come back to their collective senses, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
I just tend to switch off now when someone is accused of being a 'grifter' or something to that effect. No doubt such people do exist, but the term is thrown around so much it, and mostly against people who I don't believe fit that description in any way, that it's just the ultimate lazy ad hom as far as I'm concerned at this point.

Everyone in the House of Lords bar about literally two peers was pro-Remain.
