British actress Jodie Turner-Smith said she may move to Canada instead of raising her children in what she called an overly white supremacist United States.

A lawsuit filed by a Muslim activist organization against a Florida firearms retailer who posted a "Muslim Free Zone" sign has been dismissed and the case ordered closed because the statement was protected by the First Amendment and the activists couldn't show they were injured. The decision was released by U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom…

The retailer should keep a really friendly dog in the store who greets everyone.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg spoke with the BBC this week about the upcoming impeachment trial in the US Senate. During her questioning Justice Ginsburg suggested that US Senators could be disqualified from the proceedings if they are not impartial. Justice Ginsburg: “The House indicts, and the Senate tries. Should a trier be impartial? Of course, that’s…

Dead justices that hate the plaintiff are not impartial.
https://jonathanturley.org/2016/07/11/did-justice-ginsburg-just-violate-judicial-ethics-in-her-criticism-of-donald-trump/comment-page-3/ Canon 5 of the judicial ethical rules expressly states that judges shall not “make speeches for a political organization or candidate, or publicly endorse or oppose a candidate for public office.” The problem is that the Court has long maintained that ethical codes are not enforceable against its members as opposed to every other jurist in the country. This absurd position has continued because Congress has failed to act, something that I have previously criticized. Ginsburg’s statements this week reflects the continued sense of impunity enjoyed by justices who violate the core maxim that “no man shall be the judge of his own case.” The justices are the judges of their own ethical cases and they show vividly why that is a dangerous and corrupting power.

Animal cruelty has officially become a federal felony after President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on Monday afternoon.

I'm against animal cruelty, but I'm also against failure to understand limitations on federal jurisdiction. If the animals are crossing state lines, or located on federal lands, territories, or military bases, then the law will have effect. Otherwise there is no general federal jurisdiction within the 50 states of the Union, but then most states have animal cruelty statutes. "It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally engage in animal crushing in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce or within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States."
