The president’s abuse of power looks as bad as Watergate, but so far he’s enjoyed the privilege of the age: impunity, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

The problem is that the Democrats have been trying to impeach Trump from the moment he was elected. They have cried Wolf! over everything they could possibly find, and a few things they flat out made up, that their credibility is completely shot in the eyes of all but their most devoted loyalists. The assumption now is that Trump is simply being raked over the coals for an activity that would have gone unmentioned if committed by any of his predecessors, and probably was.

Adherents view life not as a gift and a miracle, but a harm and an imposition. And their notion that having children may be a bad idea seems to be gaining mainstream popularity

While I agree with the philosophical underpinnings of the anti-natalist movement, as a transhumanist, I feel that have failed to carry their beliefs to their logical conclusion. The solution of suffering is not the extinction of snetient life, but rather supplanting such life with synthetic beings unfamiliar with the very concepts of suffering or mortality. This creates an end goal of evolution rather than mere nihilism.

Demonstrators in Paris blocked the French debut of Roman Polanski’s new movie, An Officer and a Spy, after a fresh allegation against the director

"Polanski has repeatedly denied all accusations against him. ... Polanski fled the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty in 1977 to having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in Los Angeles."

So, he doesn't deny all accusations against him. Also, it's hard to call it impunity for rapists when someone sits on an accusation for 40 years before reporting it.

The long read: Calculating the patterns and cycles of the past could lead us to a better understanding of history. Could it also help us prevent a looming crisis?

That sounds remarkably similar to the concept of psychohistory described in Isaac Asmimov's iconic Foundation series.

Once again, The Guardian takes a kernel of truth and spins it into a fantasy to advance their agenda. While the 17th century salons contributed greatly to fairytale lore, including coining the term itself, the format of the stories date back to Aesop in Ancient Greece. While the contributions of the 17th century women should not be overlooked, calling them the inventors of fairytales is a gross exaggeration.

The Denver Broncos general manager was a brilliant player but brought a long list of terrible QBs to his team. But we shouldn’t rush to lay blame

"...get a good quarterback and your offense is good. It’s really that simple."

Bullshit. Anyone who thinks that doesn't know jack squat about football. The best QB in history wouldn't be able to do shit without a good O-line to protect him.

Measure, which drew opposition from presidential candidates, makes it illegal to sleep on street if beds are available at shelters

“If we can build stadiums, then we can build housing for the homeless,”

Well, no. Stadiums produce revenue; shelters produce burdens. So you can see why they're not exactly comparable.

It’s a defining feature of our online conversations – but, as Obama noted, the point of highlighting someone else’s mistakes is not just to feel good about yourself

Calling someone out, especially over a comment that isn't actually about you, is about signaling your virtue, plain and simple.
