In this video Alan Watts speaks on how the opposites (in anything) "grow" up together. Just like a battery or magnet must have a positive side and a negative side, so too is everything in life. Freedom requires there be bondage or else you wouldn't know freedom. Light needs dark or else you would not know light. A fish in water doesn't know it's in water until it knows when it is not.

He also speaks about how some translations of the bible have John saying, "In the beginning was the Dao" rather than "word" or "logos". But the idea of things being made by the Dao is absurd. He speaks on the "ruler who abdicates" not ruling through dominance, but just letting everything be free, which creates order.
