Shemen is the Hebrew word for Oil and is also linked to the number 8 (overflowing or infinite). 7 is the number of completion (Shabbat is on the 7th day) and 8 is Shemini Atzeret the day that comes after the end, eternity ...heaven.

Today's Mission: Discover the mystery of shemen. Live in the power of the Spirit, beyond your limitations, over and above, exceeding, transcending, overflowing, and dwelling in the heavenlies.

Shabbat (Sabbath) Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. (KJV)

God has real reasons for instructing and modelling for us the practice of taking a sabbath that we would be wise to pay attention to. He created us with real limits and a real need for Him.

Sabbath is just one way that we are reminded that God is our provider. Time and time again, we see that in His economy, He does more with our obedience, even if in many ways that means we are doing less than others. When we follow God’s commands, he multiplies our time and resources.
