Before the failed assassination attempt of President Trump, the SPLC was in the news last week for funding poor, underfunded right wing hate groups like the Patriot Front and the KKK. As fighting against right wing hate needs a well funded adversary, the SPLC had generously and secretly stepped in to fill the void. However, some have criticized the SPLC for funding groups like the KKK, even though it was for a noble purpose. In response to criticism, the SPLC has remove the KKK from their list of hate groups, thus making funding the group completely above board. At press time, the SPLC had also removed 'attempting to assassinate President Trump' from their list of hate crimes.
