The sound of "rattling knives" still fills Susan Bowlus with cold terror and dread as it brings to mind her brutal rape, even 40 years later. Bowlus, 68, a Brooklyn-based portrait photographer, believes she is one of dozens of rape victims of Joseph DeAngelo Jr., now known as the Golden State Killer. Now in prison, DeAngelo Jr., 80, committed a series of murders and scores of burglaries and sexual assaults across California between 1974 and 1986.
