American historian and columnist Victor Davis Hanson commented today at American Greatness on the organized and skillful way some 12 million legal immigrants entered the United States through Ellis Island between 1892 and 1954. “All were registered, documented, and given rudimentary health exams,” Hanson wrote. “They arrived as rich and poor, white and non-white, and, without exception, legally.”
