The family of NHL hockey player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, appeared in a New Jersey courtroom Tuesday to hear lawyers discuss whether their own drinking contributed to their deaths when they were hit by an allegedly drunken and enraged driver as they cycled along a rural road. Lawyers for the driver charged with killing the brothers hope to show they contributed to the fatal crash by cycling while impaired. Prosecutors say that’s not relevant under New Jersey law.
