A man in Indiana confronted protesters with a gun on Saturday, April 5.According to one report, the man was driving past a “Hands Off” protest in Lafayette, Indiana, when he reportedly became angry that the protesters were preventing him from turning.The man got out of his car and confronted a protester, who reportedly head-butted the man, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier.The man then went back to his car and returned with a gun to confront the protesters again.Footage of part of the incident was taken by Paul Jason Haynes.“There was bad behavior on both sides,” Haynes said. “It was terrifying to see someone that angry walking through a crowd with a gun.”The man, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, can be seen in the footage approaching different groups of protesters with a gun in his hands and his nose bleeding.The man eventually went back to his car, and police arrived and detained him.According to a statement by the Lafayette Police Department, the police began an investigation into the events on Saturday.“At this time, initial findings indicate that the firearm was not knowingly and intentionally pointed at any person,” Lafayette Police said. “However, the presence of a firearm in a tense, crowded public space understandably caused alarm among community members.”Indiana allows the open carrying of firearms in public places, police noted in their statement.
