A coal-fired power plant in Ibbenburen, Germany, was demolished in a controlled explosion on Sunday, April 6.WDR News reported that both the100-meter-high boiler house and the 125-meter-high cooling tower were successfully brought down, following the plant’s shutdown in 2021 as part of Germany’s nationwide energy transition away from fossil fuels.Footage filmed by Jan Schroth shows the demolition.The site will soon host a converter station for wind power from the North Sea, the construction company Hagerdon said.
