US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said officers in Southern California recently seized a shipment of nearly $5 million worth of methamphetamine in poorly disguised “watermelons.”Officers discovered the drugs when they referred a 29-year-old man driving a commercial tractor-trailer from Mexico for a secondary inspection, and found “1,220 packages wrapped in paper, disguised as watermelons within the shipment,” CBP said.Images released by CBP show several crates filled with the fake watermelons, which officials said totaled 4,587 pounds.
