The issue with gene editing in the long term is that it results in less genetic diversity. This will make humans less adaptable and increases the chance of mass death or even extinction.

I'm telling you. Aliens are just US from a thousand years in the future. They are trying to go back to the right time to figure out WTF went wrong!!!
I'm pretty sure they've picked the right time to observe the primary problem.
Sadly if genetic engineering becomes a thing it will likely be used to create shorter lived, stupider people instead.
Fuck those babies
hah bad time to use yellow skin as an example for something before going into an article about a chinese clone baby
Technical note: "Triangle" is read "delta".
Just do the math people.
Most genetic fluctuations result in garbage.
Over the long term, 99,99% of changes will result in garbage. Add to this that we are getting better and better at keeping people alive.
The end result is a horrible future full of people who make the current generation look like demigods.
Or we could use genetic modification to make sure we remove genetic problems, so only every couple of generations someone needs to live with something horrible but doesn't need to pass it on to his children.
Anyone who believes people will all start looking the same should just stop for a minute and reconsider. Does everyone like the same colour schemes? The same food?
No, tastes vary. A lot.
I personally would certainly go for a mix of hair and eye colours. This is setting aside the option of creating colours that don't happen naturally (or very rarely).
Why cant you just say "Hello World" like a normal computer DNA?
They made Gattaca a thing
they're gonna fuck up and make an abomination..or maybe we will all live forever (if you can afford treatment)...which do you pick?
i'm down to compete for option 2
