We're at a stage now where burning down the whole thing and starting again looks like the best of a bad set of options.
American universities have been a source of pride, power and prestige for over a century. Killed off in two generations by narcissistic attention whores.
Universities... Indoctrination Stations. Same thing.
This is why vocational or technical certifications are becoming more popular and MORE useful.
SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL'S OUT FOR EVA
in all seriousness I hope my kids grow up without the idea of post secondary education, people from these institutions are some of the dumbest people I've met.
Just stop giving loans to people who major in shit that doesn't lead to a real job.
That would solve the problem.
PC culture ruins everything and universities are the biggest PC brainwash factories of today.
The greatest college life hack of all time. Tired of paying student loans? Tell your local college to go woke and then they'll go broke! You won't need tuition loans if there's no university to take out loans for! 4D Chess.
They didnt lose their minds in college tim, they have their minds taken away and corrupted...
This is kind of true that post secondary institutions are kind of becoming out-dated even if it's not just an indoctrination center.
Lectures are pretty inefficient given they need one professor per 30-60 students, whereas they could have just filmed it and millions could watch it online for free.
Right now anybody with an internet connection can learn all sorts of stuff on the internet just by searching. And schools only teach people what they think they need to know, which they might never have needed to know. A graduation paper is just a piece of paper employers use to judge people by, and becomes secondary once the person has past work experience, thus less and less valuable over time.
Given time, the online free educational material will probably get better anyways, if not already good enough with stuff like the Khan Academy on YouTube and such.
Probably the biggest thing schools provide is forcing people to learn who otherwise wouldn't be motivated to learn by themselves, sort of like how a personal trainer forces somebody to work out who otherwise wouldn't motivated to just run around the block or do some pushups/situps themselves. That and some guidance/advice how to somewhat do things correctly.
Problem: Universities are for-profit corporations whose paying customers are immature snowflakes that have been raised by their TVs rather than their parents, partially(?) funded by the guilty conscience of parents that were absent during their upbringing (hence the TVs), likely due to having to work multiple jobs.
Solution: Massive restructuring of funding schemes, mostly stuff likely to rub all sorts of fiscal conservatives (and religious Leftists alike) the wrong way...
Even Science could be a trade school thing, or you can rent a lab and hire a freelance Professor. Granted there may be some bulk buy in University, and the "School tie" doesn't exist. It's more for contact building.
