I think they're dropping like flies because gamers don't want to read articles about games that are written by people who seem to hate both games and gamers.

This is what happens when you confuse real life with a loud but small group of people in social media. You create a platform which caters to an audience which does NOT exist.

Any games journalist that loses their job is a good thing. They would be of more use at McDonalds than where they are now.
The only reason why this has not happened to news sites like CNN is that they receive a few dollars every month from every single cable subscriber. Even if you never watch CNN, you still pay them $$ every month.
We see time and time again group and companies going bankrupt or closing down. Yet this mindset still doubles down and keeps virtue signaling. Isn't the quote "Doing the same action over and over again, expecting different results" their motto?

Reminds me of the dot com boom where the companies never made money and financed their operations by burning through shareholders investments. Except that they weren't NPCs.
