Everyone has something to say about Facebook's new name and most of it is negative. Given what the name means in Hebrew, it's not surprising.

Who cares what the jews think about a US company naming their product/brand in ENGLISH. Fuck FB in any case.

It has a dark meaning in English, too. The Metaverse is from the dark SciFi novel "Snowcrash" and it describes the fake world people escape to when society falls apart.

Literally the dumbest thing ever ... and either intentionally misleading reporting ... or just super sloppy.

"Meta" does NOT mean "death" in Hebrew.

The word for death in Hebrew is "מוות." The transliteration is "Mavat."

There is a word, which sounds close to "Meta" and that word is "מִיתָה" pronounced "Mee-TAH." It's primarily used when speaking about HOW someone died. Like in the question, "So, what was this person's manner of death?"

But the English "Meta" is not related in any way, shape, or form to "Mavat" or "Mee-TAH." Suggesting that it is, is just stupid.

what is wrong w it?

I'm sure suckaburger knows that.

It's like when one of the Standard Oil companies changed their name to Exxon, after searching to make sure it didn't resemble any other word, and somebody said "Sounds like Nixon."

And the Chevy Nova in Spanish was "No va"= "Doesn't go."

It means "dead." Which is what Suckerbugger wants your brain to become if you use Facebook.

As he is a Hebrew, it must be intentional.
