A lot of Labour MPs are saying that the party should choose a woman as leader rather than the best person for the job. Identity politics like this is one of the reasons people have turned away from Labour. A party needs broad appeal to win an election. Labour is in denial about the drubbing they received at the hands of the voters and seems intent on self-marginalising.
And as a footnote, if the next party leader is a member of Labour Friends of Palestine, like Rebecca Long-Bailey, Angela Rayner and Lisa Nandy, the Jewish lobby will step up the anti-semitism allegations because they don't want a pro-Palestine PM in No10.
