Long Beach's "hero pay" boosts grocery store workers' pay during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kroger responded by closing two stores. That's just wrong.

Business exist to profit. If they cant profit why the fuck would they stay open? Govt is business biggest threat. This is a good example. Govt tries to tell a business how to run and instead of losing money they close. Thanks a lot govt!

“ the company reported operating profits of $2.9 billion through the third quarter of 2020, taking in $1.2 billion more in earnings compared to the year before.”

What company? The two Kroger’s that closed or the corporation itself? Shady journalism. Making it sound like these two stores were both bringing in 2.9 billion and just closed to spite the govt.

“ we have made the difficult decision to permanently close long-struggling store locations in Long Beach.“.

So the stores closed were not brining in 2.9 billion. They were struggling to profit, and big govt stepped in and forced them to close. Latimes feels they should stay open and operate at a loss.

And how many businesses did LA close down over the last year. What the hell is wrong with liberals?

Yes they should. US is free enterprise not communist gulag

Dear LA Times,

There is nothing stopping YOU from opening a grocery store there...

You can literally correct this evil capitalistic oppression by doing so, rather than just bitch about it.

Love,

The Whole World

Last time I looked it was OK for a business to LEAVE any city, county or state. If the workers at those businesses that close were smart they would leave as well.

Notice how California doesn't have any Krogers? Why not LA times fags? Not allowing Kroger in your state? That's just wrong.

Siri, how does finance work?

commiecrats whining about the effects of their BS ideas

Wait until the $15/hr BS comes in. Lots of businesses will close and/or move.

So, the writer should open his own grocery store out of his own pocket. Instead of begging for cash every time I try to read an L.A. Times article...
