I saw Blazing Saddles on my senior class trip. It was shocking and awesome. To me, the movie shows how absurd stereotypes and racism are by relegating their existence to the ridiculous. That’s what made the movie so freaking hilarious.
'The sheriff is a near!'
Right: "See? Making jokes about things like nazis and racism consigns them to the context of absurdity they deserve!!"
Left: "We need to boycott Warner Brothers for this racism until they publicly decry it, burn every copy of the film in existence, and call for the arrest of Mel Brooks for his contributions to slavery and the holocaust."
Classic films now face the wrath of perpetually enraged social justice warriors. Last weekend’s "Watters World" on Fox News Channel analyzed the impact of this politically correct phenomenon.
Exhibit A was Mel Brooks’ “Blazing Saddles,” the single funniest motion picture ever committed to celluloid.
Oh boys! Look what I've got here!
