commentary/patrick-j-buchanan/tariffs-taxes-made-america-great

The citizens of the USA used to have ZERO taxes- everything was paid for by tariffs. We need to go back to that model.

We need more articles like this, which explain how tariffs result in factories returning to the US (thereby benefiting the middle class and boosting national security).

Our treasonous media has focused entirely on the statement by Kudlow that "Americans will foot the bill." Of course they neglect the most important part: we will be bringing home the paychecks as well.

I remember long ago when kitchen serving goods and other things from China were banned due to dangerous lead content. I also noticed the shit came back years later after they were given free rein to flood our market again. Several years ago dogs were dying because of the crap China manufactured in their food. There are a lot of problems that need to be investigated about China’s exports. These tariffs are saving Americans $50Billion a year. I’m all for it. Tariffs only take percentages from the middleman, not the manufacturer. If a middleman adds 2 or 3 or even 10 percent onto the price of an item, the 25% tariff is only against that margin, not on the entire price of the item. In the meantime POTUS is giving manufacturers great incentives to bring their companies back to American workers.

Have to disagree with ol' Pat here.

1) Tariffs increase the costs of doing business in America not only nominally, but in larger part due to the Law of Comparative Advantage. Allowing nations to trade more freely allows even the most capable economies to increase their productivity by freeing up their time and other resources to produce what is more severely scarce. Complaining about the trade deficit as though that's a result of patriot deficit is ridiculous; it's a result of monetary policy. We are a debtor nation just like Spain was at the end of its empire, and THAT has destroyed our industrial output. It hasn't anything to do with tariffs. We're trading debt for goods instead of goods for goods. Tariffs have zero chance of fixing this imbalance except by eliminating our imports which will NOT increase our exports (quite the opposite, as the price of domestic goods will explode).

2) The depression was a result of the increase of phoney baloney money prior to the crash, not the lack of phoney baloney money afterwards. "America's Great Depression" makes this case well if you're interested in specifics, but Buchanan's solution to the 1929 crash basically amounts to hair of the dog.

Great article by Pat Buchanan on why tariffs work. But Trump should outright ban food imports from China, not just impose tariffs.

Buchanan is big on history, but I dont see him on the history of Jew slavery in America and how the jew controlled south spread black Africans all over America or the rebuttle of Jewish Holocaust myths or the USS Liberty or the Jews who slaughtered 3 times what Hitler is blamed for etc etc etc. This kid gloves BS has to go!

Buchanan still thinks Drumpfelstein is going to make America great again (him and his Jewish family). All we have are egotistical sellouts now who are leftovers from the older Commie media. Still the same.
