I thought they would have “forgotten” to sign the documents so they could prolong Brexit as long as possible. I’m suspicious.

If they are this willing to unlatch one of the pivotal economic engines from the EU, then you can rest assure that England is gonna get fucked hard in the out clauses. It's like any divorce--it may cost you a fortune, but in the long run, it's worth every damn penny.
