Well that kind of was bound to happen if you push Nato right up to their border after saying you wouldn't. Imagine if Russia had missile launchers on the Mexican border to USA and you will understand why they are reacting the way they are.

What the #BBC leaves out -- something it's notorious for doing when it wants to misrepresent the news -- is that Ukraine broke the 2015 Minsk agreement, which Russia has always adhered to. Ukraine has allowed US to roll in heavy artillery to the Russian border. The Russian troops on the border are a response to that.

Russia, with the most sophisticated military technology in the world, does not need to send in troops to attack a country, if that was what its aim was. But it will need them to defend itself against a threat with conventional weapons.
