Africans are generally seen as hideous. It's no wonder advertisers in less compromised countries dont want them advertising products.

The question that doesn't get asked is did Jo Malone acquire the IP to the concept when they commissioned Boyega to make the advert. My guess is they most probably did as they would want to exploit the work for the companies gain - in which case there is nothing to see here.

I get the impression that adverts are often different for different regions and it is common for adverts targeting a Chinese audience to want to show Chinese people in them.

I'm pretty sure they would have cast a Chinese actor to replace a white guy also.
