Ever since the second month after the Exodus from Egypt, God provided water for the children of Israel through a rock that followed them throughout their travels. Now, as their forty years in the wilderness is approaching an end, the rock suddenly stops giving water. Everything is looking pretty bleak. The children of Israel arrive at the wilderness of Zin, Miriam dies, and there is no water.
Numbers 20:1-2 NKJV 1 Then the children of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the Wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh; and Miriam died there and was buried there. 2 Now there was no water for the congregation; so they gathered together against Moses and Aaron.
Why had this happened? Why did God cut off the water supply just as they were getting ready to enter the land? What does this reveal about Messiah?
