Did anyone have any actual hope for this remake?
As predicted... Modern art=crap
Rod Sterling > Jordan Peele
The first episode of CBS's new Twilight Zone reboot was a one hour episode about comedians(what one joked about in his set ceased to exist), but lacking in the entire episode was a single joke that was funny. Instead the point of the episode was that comedians were all bullies and psychopaths. Identity politics is now poisoning yet another beloved cultural icon. CBS all access first struck at Start trek and is now moving onto TTZ.
1st episode - Dot Indian comedian steps aside so black woman can succeed. Described above.
2n'd episode - White guy causes problems on a plane allowing a white hijacker to crash it.
3rd episode - white cop causes problems for black people in a diner who have a camera that rewinds time. Cop keeps harassing and eventually killing her son over and over again, until everyone has a camera.
4th episode - Feather Indian cop arresting her own drunk brother on the evening of the myth of Christmas finds a extra terrestrial traveler in the cells. This is a mashup retelling of the alien observers watching a neighborhood fall apart when the lights go out story, but here it's when secrets are revealed, Again it's mostly useless filler. The kicker is the aliens reveal that the white sheriff is a traitor with the Russians to spook him into fleeing to a hidden power station so they can follow him to it as they invade to take it out, and the natives welcome the invasion. The moral is the LIE of Christianity isn't a lie only because we believe the lie.
5th episode - Asian political operative after losing the current President's re-election (Trump like) tries to make a comeback by running a white preteen for president. Of course the child president is one big dig against Trump with overtones of the old episode "the good life" as the kid goes full tyrant. The good thing is this was only a 39 minute episode.
Are we detecting the pattern yet?
The really really sad thing is that every episode has been mostly mundane filler and the actual "story" took less than 15 minutes.
Sounds exactly like what I would expect. Bad -- 'Listen up everyone, we have a lesson for you.' Ick. Didn't work for Billy Graham evangelistic 'films' won't work for this 'show.'
