For me, the big risk in buying foreign stocks as a hedge against a U.S. stock market crash is: 1) finding a foreign alternative with trustworthy information (Is that still even theoretically possible in Hong Kong under China's thumb?), and 2) finding stocks in a country whose central bank isn't devaluing its currency as avidly as the U.S. Federal Reserve.
