Why not create an alternate monitored and moderated child friendly set of internet sites, rather than expect the whole internet to be child-friendly?

It's hardly as though we shut the pubs and the roads, so that children are safe to roam our city centres...so why do we think doing this to the internet is a sensible recourse?

Of course, it's not to protect children, but to protect the powers that be.
