Speaking at a contentious White House coronavirus news briefing on Sunday that involved testy standoffs with multiple reporters, President Trump declared that "the peak in death rate" in the coronavirus pandemic "is likely to hit in two weeks," and said the federal government will be extending its social-distancing guidelines through April 30.

It takes two weeks before the effects of quarantines will start to show. Before that we will continue to see increase in cases as if there were no quarantines in place at all. The infection rate will stay lower as long as we continue to be locked in, and will spike immediately after people start to move freely again.

Finland has been locked in for two weeks now. We should be seeing decreases in the infection rate any day now.
