I paid rent a few times but you want to know the truth about it, try to find a building out in the country side somewhere that has a sturdy foundation and frame. Don't be concerned with how it looks on the outside, you can change that in almost the blink of an eye in construction time frame. Once it's weather-proof move in it and start working on the inside.....I turned my grand dad's tobacco packhouse/barn into a home, it's some work but with a little work and some imagination it can be done.
Rent basically is about the same as a boat which is a hole in the water you pour money into, but if you have a boat you live on oh well THAT'S a different story....always liked the idea of a houseboat.
