The problem is Chinese culture is NOT Christian, western civilization, even though it is a civilization. See what happened to "The Japan that can say 'No'". Poorly Made in China and What's Wrong with China explains it.
They don't mention the 1984 surveilance state, but that can't CREATE virtue, only enforce it, and the Chinese are good at nibbling - delivering some things but trimming the margins. Europeans just directly debased or clipped the edges of the gold coins. The Chinese patiently drilled them out and replaced them with clay. There is much "save face", culture that encourages appearance over substance. And punishes shameful things instead of forgiving.
Their debt is probably worse (think going to three different banks and getting 80% HELOCs - home equity extraction - then taking the cash and skipping; if you see or hear "Rehypothecation", run!).
Even the empty cities are likely to crumble - that is part of the nibbling where they use substandard cement if it saves money and isn't immediately detectable - remember the earthquake that killed so many schoolchildren? The schools APPEARED to be up to code.
Honor and Integrity are Western, Christian (and not Judaeo-) values.
